Ravi Teja interview: I don't care about trolls, Mass Jathara will be worth the wait

Ravi Teja Interview: Positive energy keeps me going despite flops

Are you upset about the continuous delay in Mass Jathara’s release?

Initially, I was, but things are not in our hands. We were planning to release the film for Sankranthi 2025, but it got postponed due to my injury. Then, we planned a summer release, but that did not happen. We later wanted a Ganesh Chaturthi release, but the producer backed out, and finally, we have locked an October 31, 2025, release. I am one of those people who believe that whatever happens is for our good, and I feel Mass Jathara is getting a perfect solo release.

What made you believe in a debut director like Bhanu Bhogavarapu?

He is known for his writing skills and has worked on many hit films in the past. Taking up direction was the next step, and when he came up with this script, it suited my style, energy, and image, so I did not think much and okayed the film right away. Bhanu is quite clear in his approach and has narrated the film in a full-on commercial manner. I am sure he is going to be one of the biggest directors in Telugu cinema.

You are going through back-to-back flops. How do you keep yourself motivated?

Flops are part and parcel of the game, and I never get upset. The moment one feels dull, his game is over. My motto is to work hard on every film, and success will surely come to you. That is also one of the reasons I have done back-to-back films in my career. The moment you feel let down by your flops, it is very hard to concentrate. Positive energy is the key to my success.

The trailer looks routine. What is unique about Mass Jathara?

My characterization is unique, as I play a railway police officer in the film. The setup, action, and mass moments will be new for the audience. Though the basic template is routine, the way comedy and drama have been highlighted along with high-packed action is the highlight of the film.

Social media trolls have started slamming your films as “routine” and a “been there, done that” kind of scenario. What’s your take?

I don't care what people say. Even though so many content-filled movies come out, the commercial cinema format is what we have grown up watching and what is liked by one and all. If you look at all the biggest hits in the last few years, they are all big commercial entertainers. So, I don't care what the critics say.

Working with the likes of Sreeleela?

She is a terrific actress, looks beautiful, and we share crackling chemistry. Mass Jathara has a crazy track between us, and the comedy generated is top-notch. She plays a school teacher, and her track is hilarious in the film.

Future projects?

I have already started shooting for Kishore Tirumala’s next, which is halfway through completion. I have also signed two more films, which I will announce soon. After a very long gap, I am super excited to see the audience’s reaction to Mass Jathara.
