Varun Sandesh makes his OTT debut with the psychological thriller Nayanam. Slated to stream on Zee 5 and OTTplay Premium, the series also has Bigg Boss fame Priyanka Jain as the female lead.

Nayanam is a new-age thriller that marks the OTT debut of popular hero Varun Sandesh. After playing so many boy-next-door roles, he plays a crazy doctor who peeps into others' lives and even commits gory crimes. The much-awaited web series is all set to stream on December 19, 2025, on Zee5 and OTTplay Premium.
A never-before-seen avatar: Varun Sandesh opens up about Nayanam
When asked about playing the crazy Dr. Nayan, Varun Sandesh says that portraying such an intense character was taxing and took a toll on his mental strength.
“When the director came with the story, I wondered why she chose me as the main lead. But after going through the script, I felt that Nayanam is the project that brings out the actor in me and presents me in a never-before-seen avatar.” says Varun.
Varun also adds that his character Dr. Nayan implants eye lenses for the poor, but at the same time, he uses illegal means to see their lives through these lenses.
“What happens when a crazy doctor gets special powers and how he misuses them to kill innocent people is the basic story of the series. The mental issues that my character goes through were quite hard to bring out. It took me a while to get into Dr. Nayan's mind, but once I got there, things fell into place,” adds Varun.
Swathi Prakash directs this series, which has six episodes in total. Varun also adds that his fans and the common audience will be shocked to see him in such a crazy avatar for the first time.
“Nayanam has brought out the best in me, and those who think I can only play soft roles will be pleasantly surprised to see me in this series. The thrills, performances, and the cliffhanger episode, everything will be one hell of a ride,” says Varun.
Priyanka Jain, of Bigg Boss 8 fame, plays the female lead in this series, and Varun says her character is also quite key to the story. The series also features Uttej, Ali Reza, Rekha Nirosha, and Harish in key roles.
Varun Sandesh has been struggling to score a hit but has continued to do one project after another. He says Nayanam will bring him back into the game and open up many avenues as an actor. Let’s see how far the series lives up to the hype created.
