Name a reality show from two years back and Varun Sood's name will be attached to it in some way or another. A celebrity born out of the same pool as many others who have penetrated different branches of entertainment over the years, Sood is now looking forward to making a successful career as a full-time actor. Seen most recently in Karmma Calling alongside Bollywood star Raveena Tandon, Varun has consciously distanced himself from the world of reality shows. In a candid chat with OTTplay, he spoke about how he wants to lead his life going forward.
In our exclusive chat, Varun Sood, with co-star Namrata Sheth from Karmma Calling, was discussing life on social media and the uncertainty of it all. While Sheth has a budding social media presence, Varun holds a massive following who want to know everything about him. Said to be an official thirst trap on the internet, Sood has been one of the most talked-about personalities for a couple of things that made it to the mainstream about his personal life and past relationships.
Now, as he moves on to become a full-time actor, when asked about balancing it all, Varun Sood said, “I think when I was in the reality space, at that time, the need of the hour was to tell people that I am doing this, I am here, and when I decided to leave that and enter this, for a good two years, nobody knows what I do, where I am. Thirst traps are still on, and always will be, but no one will ever know if I am going to a restaurant to eat, or if I am on holiday because I would like to now keep my private life private, and I would like to showcase my work now. It makes more sense to me.”
When asked if he now completely removes himself from the reality TV pool, Varun Sood added, “I am completely cut off from there. I am nowhere in touch with anybody; obviously, Rannvijay (Singha) is my brother, he is my family, and he is the only person I am in touch with from that world.”
Adding her point of view to the entire conversation, Namrata Sheth said, “You decide what you want to put out there. For me, Instagram has always been a tool to showcase my work, not to showcase my life. My life I prefer keeping private. Right now, I don’t think anybody has been very interested in knowing anything about me. And I have not felt the need to put it out there; I use it to show people what I am doing, and that’s about it. You just have to make sure you make that distinction.”
Karmma Calling is now streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more on this and everything else from the world of streaming and films.
