Coda is about Ruby, who is the one with the ability to hear in a family of deaf and mute members. She straddles her work duties for her family, being their interpreter, and she only wishes for a healthy, functional college life that is not marked out by her association with her differently-abled family - caught between a rock and a hard place. Her involvement in the family's fishing business collides with her own ambitions and her passion for singing. Sian Heder has directed the film, which had landed one of the most staggering lucrative deals for buyers in Sundance, with Apple sealing its rights.
