Lootera

Lootera, a 2013 movie, is directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and is a romantic and dramatic picture. Lootera is loosely inspired by O.Henry’s The Last Leaf. Ranveer Singh plays the character of Varun, who is a painter and meets Pakhi, who is sick. Sonakshi Sinha, as Pakhi, falls in love with Varun but is heartbroken when he leaves her after stealing her family with currency notes and the idols from the temple. When Varun comes back for another heist, he learns about Pakhi’s condition and that she is sick with tuberculosis. He drops his plan and takes care of the ailing Pakhi, knowing that she wants to give up on his life with the last leaf on the tree. Towards the end of the movie, Sonakshi could not find Varun but witnessed a leaf on the tree, which she believed would not be there. She looked closely at the leaf, only to find out that it’s Varun's masterpiece. He painted an actual leaf so that Pakhi does not lose hope in her life. On the other hand, Varun loses his life when he comes across the police.
