A backshot of Rocking Star Yash in a bathtub that has streams of blood trickling down its sides, a tattoo adorning his chiseled back – that’s all it took for a fan frenzy to kick off, as the actor officially announced the countdown to the release of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups. The Geetu Mohandas directorial will be in theatres on March 19, 2026, with exactly 100 days remaining. Toxic is releasing during a significant festive period, overlapping with Gudi Padwa, Ugadi, and Eid, which offers a strong four-day holiday box-office window. It will clash with Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 at the box office.
What was also interesting about the poster was the list of technicians mentioned. The cinematography is led by Geetu’s husband and fellow filmmaker, National Award winner Rajeev Ravi, while the music has been credited to KGF and Salaar’s Ravi Basrur. For the longest time, it was rumoured that Charanraj would collaborate with Yash on Toxic and then it was said that Anirudh was in charge of the songs, while Ravi Basrur does the background score. Well, the new announcement settles that – it’s a Basrur show all the way.
Ujwal Kulkarni oversees the editing, TP Abid is in charge of production design. Bringing an international touch, Hollywood action director JJ Perry—celebrated for his work on John Wick—has crafted some of the film’s most significant action sequences, while India’s popular duo Anbariv is credited for the rest. Choreography has Ganesh Acharya, Imran Sardhariya and A Harsha, while Yash’s trusted designer Saniya Sardhariya is still in charge of his onscreen styling.

The most notable element of the poster, though, is the writing credit. Toxic has been written by Yash and Geetu. In fact, in an earlier interview, the Rocking Star had said that Geetu had come to him with a small idea, which he has developed into the big picture that it is now. Over the course of the making of the film, there were rumours that Yash, who has also co-produced it, and, hence, involved in all creative decisions, was also directing major portions, although, this was pooh-poohed by sources close to the team.

Toxic - A Fairy Tale for Adults FAQs
Q: When was Yash last seen onscreen?
A. Yash's last theatrical release was KGF: Chapter 2, which was a massive hit. His next, Toxic was meant to be in theaters earlier this year, but production delays scuttled those plans. It is now hitting theatres on March 19 along with Dhurandhar 2.
Q. Why were fans unhappy about Geetu Mohandas as director of Toxic?
A. Rocking Star fans were unsure of Geetu's ability to handle the requisites of a star like Yash onscreen, considering that she's not had a commercially successful directorial to her credit, including her last, Moothon.
