The makers of the upcoming Malayalam web series, 1000+ Babies, have dropped a major update regarding its release today (August 14). They have confirmed that the project, starring Rahman and Neena Gupta in lead roles, will be streaming on Disney+ Hotstar soon.
The cast and crew have also released a new poster that suggests the show is a horror drama. The newest poster features a mysterious, dark figure among cradles in a forest. The supporting cast of 1000+ Babies includes Sanju Sivram, Adil, Joy Mathew, Srikanth Murali, Ashwin Kumar, and Irshad Ali.
1000+ Babies to stream on Hotstar soon
Disney+ Hotstar appears to be concentrating on web series in South Indian languages lately in order to fill its content library. The first web series to air on the platform this year was Praveen Chandran's debut comedy series Perilloor Premier League, which starred Nikhila Vimal and Sunny Wayne. It was the first Malayalam web series to air on the platform since Ahammed Khabeer's Kerala Crime Story last year. Last month, Suraj Venjaramoodu's feature film Nagendran's Honeymoons made its debut on Disney+ Hotstar.
1000+ Babies will stream in multiple languages
The latest poster confirms that the web series will be streaming in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Bengali and Marathi, apart from Malayalam. Shaji Natesan, of August Cinema, who is producing the series, mentioned in an exclusive interview with OTTplay that "its content has the ability to appeal to audiences across India, if not the world, as well as run for several seasons."
The web series' director Najeem Koya had previously written the scripts for Chera and Two Countries. Shaji states, "The entire series will be about 210 minutes in duration." Production on the show began last year. It is thus comparable to shooting two films.
As many as 93 locations were used for the web series' filming. He had verified that the primary locations in Kerala are Erattupetta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, and Palakkad. They have also shot in Thenkasi and Bengaluru. "We decided to produce it because we think it will be one of the biggest series from South by Hotstar," Shaji remarked.
