It's been 16 years since Jab We Met was released, and the film is still considered a cult classic among moviegoers. The Imtiaz Ali directorial stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor in the lead roles, and their characters Geet and Aditya have gone down in the history of Hindi cinema to being iconic characters. Celebrating the same, the Farzi actor took a trip down memory lane and shared his few lovable moments from Jab We Met.

Celebrating 16 years of Jab We Met:

In the video, Shahid is heard talking about how this film is special for him as he hadn't done a film for almost six months back then, and everybody kind of put their blood and sweat into this film. While sharing the video, the actor wrote on his Instagram page, "Special occasion toh hai #16YearsOfJabWeMet."

Choosing a role in a grounded and realistic story:

Earlier, during an interaction with Pinkvilla, Shahid revealed his first impression of the Jab We Met script. The actor stated that as soon as he heard the script in its entirety, he was hooked. The screenplay was fantastic, but he didn't feel like he was cast in a leading role. Even though Shahid knew Kareena's performance as the film's female lead was its strongest, he still wanted to be a part of it because he thought it was a very relevant, new-age love story in which the characters spoke like regular people in their 20s rather than like people who are in their 40s playing people in their 20s in movies. Shahid added that the characters are polar opposites, to put it mildly. When he saw actors in their forties behaving like they were in their twenties, he remembers thinking, "Man, it's not like that. Nothing like this happens. What on earth are they doing?"

Shahid thought what Imtiaz came up with was brilliant because it was so grounded in reality and easy to relate to; hence, he decided to implement his idea. The Jersey actor was well aware that his role wasn't the most significant, but he figured it would look good on his filmography if he took it anyhow, and it allowed him the chance to portray a new character, which is something he has always wanted to do, so he was eager to accept the role.

Jab We Met was released just after Shahid and Kareena parted ways after being in a relationship for a few years.
