16 years of Subramaniapuram – Here’s why the Sasikumar directorial is a must watch

Sasikumar's blockbuster Tamil film Subramaniapuram has completed 16 years of its release. Sasikumar made his directing debut with the film, which is regarded as a cult hit that later set new trends. In the movie, Sasikumar portrayed the main character himself. Samuthirakani, Jai, and Ganja Karuppu were essential to the project's success, along with other aspects. Swathi Colours was the female lead.

The movie is about Azhagar and his friend Paraman, who turn themselves in to the police after killing the person who made Kanugu's brother look bad. Nevertheless, a dramatic conclusion results from their quick discovery that Kanugu was misleading them.

The cast as a whole gave outstanding performances that added a more realistic touch to the film, in addition to receiving critical acclaim for its story. With its picture-perfect recreation of Madurai in the 1980s, its realistic setting and filming, and its low budget, the film manages to pull off an impressive production.
