The Tamil-Telugu bilingual flick 1945 had courted controversies earlier, thanks to the indifferences cropped up between its director, producer and lead actor. The team has now come up with its Tamil trailer which was released by actor-filmmaker Sasikumar from his social media page.
The two-minute trailer has Rana Daggubati, who plays the lead in it, essaying the role of an ardent follower of Subhash Chandra Bose. Set in 1942, the trailer begins with Rana's voiceover about his character returning to India after completing studies in London. His life changes after he gets married to Anandhi, played by Regina Cassandra.
How he joins Indian National Army and fights against the Japanese troops, the British and Allied forces forms the rest of the story. On the other hand, Regina's character is depicted as someone who has an affiliation towards Mahatma Gandhi's ahimsa ideology.
The movie directed by Sathyasivaa of Kazhugu fame (streaming on Sun NXT and Jio Cinema) is produced by SN Rajarajan under the banner of K Productions. Yuvan Shankar Raja, who had composed music for Kazhugu, is the music director for 1945 as well. Sathya Ponmar and Gopikrishna have handled the film's cinematography and editing respectively.
The project was initially titled Madai Thiranthu in Tamil. Its production was put on hold in 2019 after a misunderstanding occured between the makers and Rana. The movie is now slated for a theatrical release on January 7. The film brings together Rana, Nasser and Sathyaraj after the sensational blockbuster Baahubali (streaming on Disney+ Hotstar). Kaali Venkat, Saptagiri and Sampath Ram among others will also be seen essaying crucial characters in the movie.
Sathyasivaa has completed shooting for Krishna-starrer Bell Bottom (streaming on MX Player), which is the official remake of Kannada movie with the same title.
