The OTT giant Amazon Prime Video joins hands with the production studio Yash Raj Films (YRF) to be their exclusive worldwide streaming destination. The next four big-ticket releases including Bunty Aur Babli 2 and Prithviraj will premiere on Prime Video, just after four weeks of the theatrical launch.

The licensed deal was announced today by Prime Video and the films will be released in more than 240 countries and territories across the globe. The OTT platform will serve as the home to YRF studio for the large-scale upcoming films.

The big ticket movies include the much anticipated heist comedy Bunty Aur Babli 2 starring Saif Ali Khan, Rani Mukerji, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Sharvari Wagh; the mega action entertainer Shamshera starring Ranbir Kapoor and Vaani Kapoor; the historical action movie Prithviraj, based on the life of king Prithviraj Chauhan starring Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt and Manushi Chhillar; and the big ticket family entertainer of Ranveer Singh, Jayeshbhai Jordaar

In a statement to the press, Gaurav Gandhi, the country head of Prime Video, talked about their focus on bringing the best entertainment with this partnership. He also added that the global digital premieres will not only be a delight to the prime members, but will also increase the viewing base and exposure to these films. “Yash Raj Films is known to deliver some of the finest cinematic experiences to audiences, and we are super thrilled to partner with them for these films,” he said.

The deal is reportedly worth Rs 400 crore. Earlier reports had suggested that the YRF chairman Aditya Chopra had turned down the offer. But looks like, he has now realised tons of profit he can make with the deal and changed his mind about the offer.

The OTT platform already has a history of housing some of the YRF classics like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Dil To Pagal Hai and Darr. The deal will help strengthen the long-standing relationship between the two and develop further.
