This week OTT releases seems to be in abundance, given across languages in south, various titles are gearing up for release. However, Tamil films seem to take the lead, while many other language films will also release dubbed version in Tamil. Here are seven new movies in Tamil that you can watch on OTT this week.

Lockdown, directed by AR Jeeva and starring Anupama Parameswaran in the lead role, is a social drama and said to be based on true events. The film is set against the backdrop of Covid-19 lockdown and revolves around a young woman who faces a medical emergency but cannot confide to her parents. Lockdown talks about the taboo and hardships concerned with a certain medical procedure, and the society chastising it, makes an impact on the protagonist. Lockdown stars Livingston, Nirosha and others as well.

Made in Korea is a Tamil coming-of-age drama directed by Ra Karthik. The film stars Priyanka Arul Mohan in the lead role alongside South Korean actors Park Hye‑jin and No Ho‑jin. The story follows Shenba, a young woman from a small village in Tamil Nadu who has long been fascinated with Korean culture. When circumstances take her to Seoul, her dream journey turns into a life-changing experience as she struggles with language barriers, unfamiliar surroundings and personal heartbreak. As Shenba navigates the new country, she forms unexpected friendships and gradually discovers her strength and purpose.

Naangal is a Tamil coming-of-age drama written and directed by Avinash Prakash. The film stars Abdul Rafe, Mithun Vasudevan, Rithik Mohanraj, Nithin Dineshkumar, and Prarthana Srikaanth in key roles. Set in Ooty, the story revolves around a strict and authoritarian father who raises his three young sons, after separating from their mother. As the boys grow up under his rigid rules, the film explores how his words, actions, and parenting style shape their emotional world and childhood experiences. A dysfunctional family drama that draws inspiration from Avinash’s life, the film explores the complexities of family relationships, parental and sibling love, and impact of upbringing.

Pookie is a Tamil romantic drama directed by Ganesh Chandra. The film stars Ajay Dhishan and RK Dhanusha in the lead roles. Blending elements of romance and emotional drama, the film centres on a young couple navigating the complexities of love and relationship in the evolving nature of romance. The story follows Aazhi and Kailash who publicly break-up as they face their lives in effort to forget the other. Pookie is made to cater to the Gen-Z generation. It is produced, edited and scored by Vijay Antony.

Funky is a Telugu comedy-drama directed by Anudeep KV, which will stream in Tamil as well. The film stars Vishwak Sen and Kayadu Lohar in the lead roles. Blending humour and emotions, the film explores a young filmmaker who has a tiff with producer and the filming get stalled. However, he teams up with the producer’s daughter, played by Kayadu, to complete the project. Besides Vishwak and Kayadu, the film's cast also includes Naresh, VTV Ganesh and others.

Couple Friendly is a Telugu romantic drama written and directed by Ashwin Chandrasekar, with dubbed version available in Tamil. Featuring Santosh Sobhan and Manasa Varanasi in the lead roles, the story is about two young individuals who cross paths while trying to build their lives and careers. Mithra moves away from home in search of a job while dealing with pressure from her family to settle down. As their lives intertwine, the two decide to live together and navigate the complexities of love, ambition, and personal struggles. Their relationship evolves through moments of support, conflict, and unexpected challenges that test their bond, as one of their careers take off.

Pennum Porattum is a Malayalam film which will be available in Tamil as well. Helmed by Rajesh Madhavan in his directorial debut, the film is set in Palakkad where a young woman and a Dalmatian are at the centre of the villagers' target. While the residents seem to be peace loving people, Pennum Porattum swiftly shifts the gaze as it explores the mindset of villagers and the mob mentality.
