“Everyone! Hurry up and come! The shop is on fire!” – goes the call for help in the bonus trailer of Netflix’s Minnal Murali that was released today. Unlike the previous teasers and trailer, the video clip from Tovino Thomas-starrer was grim and about the plight of the villagers of Kurukkanmoola as it lay in ruins, from a fire.

The trailer also shows a glimpse of Tovino’s superhero character Minnal Murali in the middle of the ruins and straining against the villain’s antics or the antagonist himself. We also see a hooded figure in the video clip along with a made-up mask in ashes.

The trailer also promises that the film is not just a basic superhero origin story that serves as a comedy entertainer but will have the character go through some dark circumstances.

Tamil actor Guru Somasundaram plays the villain in the movie, which also has Femina George as the female lead, Mammukkoya, Aju Varghese and Baiju Santosh. The marketing of the movie has been nuanced with each teaser or song from the film, unraveling the multiple layers that the big budget Malayalam feature has.

Minnal Murali, which is the biggest film in both director Basil’s and Tovino’s careers, is set to drop on Netflix on Christmas eve. While the first trailer showed the fun elements of being a superhero, the latest song Uyire showed the depth of romance in the film. The bonus trailer, however, also showcased that the film deals with the suffering of the people, giving Minnal Murali his stage to rise as a superhero.

The film will have Tovino Thomas in four looks – three of which have been revealed through the trailers. We also got to know that the movie, set in the 90s in the fictional village, will also have a portion in the contemporary era – this could mean the film could have Minnal Murali in an updated version of the supersuit too.
