At a press conference to promote his upcoming movie Neru, Mohanlal called the film a clear-cut courtroom drama. “It's an inquiry into the truth. But just the court proceedings—not any investigation—are the focus of the movie,” he added.
The actor went on to say that every attempt has been made by the filmmakers to tell the story in a realistic way. "The story captivated me with its grip. Actress Santhi Mayadevi, who has cowritten the script and is a real-life lawyer, has led the characters in this film. She provided a clear explanation of the appropriate body language and mannerisms in the courtroom. She helped us navigate it because we didn't know a lot of things," he remarked.
Mohanlal’s character in Neru
The movie is about Vijayamohan, a talented attorney who is bound by his circumstances. “It's been a while since I've taken on the role of an advocate. The characters I have played are very different from Vijayamohan," he remarked.
In addition, he praised the performances of Anaswara Rajan, Jagadish, Siddique, and Priyamani, who are also playing lead roles in this movie. Mohanlal’s last film playing a lawyer was K Madhu’s Adhipan, released in 1989.
