Aadu 3 to be based on time travel? Saiju Kurup promises 'surprise’ in Jayasurya's big-budget threequel

Aadu is one of the popular Malayalam film franchises to dabble in comedy. Malayalam actor Jayasurya headlines this franchise, and the third installment of Aadu went on floors in May 2025. As fans eagerly expect an update on Aadu 3 with speculations about time travel and zombies doing the rounds, actor Saiju Kurup has given some interesting titbits of information on the upcoming Malayalam film

Noted Malayalam actor Saiju Kurup featured in the 2015 film Aadu, which starred Jayasurya in the lead and was helmed by Midhun Manuel Thomas. The sequel was released in 2017 and now work on part three is in full swing. During a recent interview with Movie World Media, Saiju Kurup was asked about the Aadu 3 genre.
While stating that there would be ‘surprises’, Saiju Kurup said that the film will be about time travel and will track two time periods.
“We haven’t seen many time travel movies, right? So this one would be really interesting and fun. The first two Aadu movies were super fun and made people laugh a lot. But it will be the third part that will make laugh people thoroughly,” remarked the actor who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Flask, which hits theatres on July 18, 2025.
Saiju Kurup, who plays Arakkal Abu in the franchise, further said that Aadu 3 is being made on a bigger budget than the first two installments. Though he did not specify a number, he did say that the part three’s budget will be more than the combined budget of Aadu and Aadu 2.

The first part of the franchise, Aadu, is streaming on JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium. The second part is streaming on YouTube .
The Aadu films revolve around Shaji Pappan and his gang of buddies. After they win in a tug-of-war contest, they receive a goat (the titular Aadu) as the prize. Soon more quirky characters, including a cop, a poltician and a gangster enter the picture, leading to chaotic and humorous events.
Vinayakan, Vijay Babu, Dharmajan Bolgatty, and Indrans are also part of the film, which has a huge fan following in Kerala.
