Sitaare Zameen Par actor Aamir Khan was on Aap Ki Adaalat recently, where the actor confessed that contrary to popular belief, he did indeed condemn Pahalgam terror attacks. In fact, the actor also recalled the time when he called out Pakistan openly in his movie. Here's everything he said...
In times when the world runs on the power of social media, Aamir Khan had removed all of his social media accounts, except his production house's page, which is where they talk about his movies. That is the reason Aamir's remarks on Pahalgam went unnoticed. The actor, soon to be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par, pointed it out at Aap Ki Adaalat. "When I was asked about Pahalgam at a public function, I condemned the attack. It was a reprehensible and cowardly act targeting innocent people based on their religion. It was also an attack on our national unity— an abhorrent act. The perpetrators have received a crushing reply," the actor said.
Aamir also recalled how he openly spoke about Pakistan and ISIS in his movie Sarfarosh, when the Film Certification Board implied they should use 'padosi mulk.' "I argued, if leaders like Advani Ji can name Pakistan openly in Parliament regarding terrorism, why can’t films do the same? Sarfarosh was the first film to openly name Pakistan and ISI, and since then, many films have followed suit," the actor recalled.
Netizens had questioned Bollywood's silence on the attack. They, in particular, questioned why the Khan superstars were quiet on the matter. Aamir has now cleared the air on the very debate. This happens ahead of his movie Sitaare Zameen Par's release in theatres. The movie aims to be an exclusive theatrical release on June 20.
