The romance drama Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, directed by Santosh Singh and featuring Vikrant Massey and debutante Shanaya Kapoor, opened to a poor reception. The film failed to even reach the ₹50 lakh threshold, with early estimates from Sacnilk.com indicating that it grossed only ₹35 lakh on its opening day.
In places where Hindi is spoken, the film's low 9.92% occupancy was registered upon its Friday release. The Sabarmati Report, a recent release of Vikrant Massey, earned Rs. 1.25 crore on its opening day.
The original plan was for Shanaya Kapoor, daughter of Sanjay Kapoor, to debut in Bollywood with the film Bedhadak. Nevertheless, the film was subsequently shelved. So, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan marks her big-screen debut.

The film follows the tender romance of Massey's visually impaired musician and Shanaya Kapoor's theatrical artist. While travelling across the Himalayas by train, they make small talk and touch one another without revealing their visual impairments. The narrative delves into issues of love, perception, and the importance of human connection beyond the surface level as it unfolds with a reflective and emotional tone.
On its first day, it failed to garner a big audience, despite its plot centring on an unexpected connection developed between two individuals facing distinct obstacles. It has yet to be determined if word-of-mouth can contribute to gaining momentum during the weekend.
Niranjan Iyengar and Mansi Bagla penned the screenplay, while Mansi and Varun Bagla are the producers, and Vishal Mishra composed the soundtrack. Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan was produced by Mini Films and Zee Studios.
The film's ability to connect with fans who enjoy emotionally charged love dramas will be determined in the following days, despite the poor start.
