It’s official! The announcement for the Oscar contenders dropped on Tuesday and escalated the adrenaline rush of witnessing our favorite actors/actresses from the entertainment industry cementing their names for the prestigious honors. In the past weeks, we have already observed the best of the talents in the glamor industry taking away the coveted titles during the Primetime Emmys and Golden Globes awards. Actors Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid presented the nominations live from Los Angeles (Film Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater). Amongst the top contenders were Oppenheimer, Poor Things, and Killers of the Flower Moon, which secured the top 3 spots with the most nominations in over 10 categories.
The Oscar Awards will air live on Sunday, March 10 from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood and will be presented by the talented Jimmy Kimmel as he will return for the fourth time to roll out his charm and humor.
The official 2024 nominations for the 96th Academy Awards were sealed on January 23 after its shortlisted contenders list was shared on December 21. In the announcement, Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer secured the maximum chances for taking home the glitzy honors as it grabbed 13 nominations including Best Actor for Cillian Murphy and Best Film. Following in the footsteps is Martin Scorsese’s epic crime drama film Killers of the Flower Moon with a whopping 11 nominations. Meanwhile, Poor Things with 10 and Barbie with 8 are among the top 5 contenders. The presenters announced awards in 23 categories, both reflecting acting craft and technical areas, from best picture, director, actor, actress, original screenplay, supporting actor, supporting actress, documentary to costume design, makeup and hairstyling, cinematography, and editing, several contenders are vying for the highest accolades.
