Akshara Haasan’s film, Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu, directed by debutant Raja Ramamurthy, released on Amazon Prime Video last Friday. The actor has now talked about the movie, hoping that it paves way for more films about sex education.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, the actor said that she liked the innocence of the story and even though it talks about sexual exploration and desire, there’s so much sensitivity in the treatment. The experiences of the protagonist are relatable and we have all gone through it, said Haasan.

“I'm hoping more films come in this space. We made this film with the point of making a good film. If that intention encourages more filmmakers to take up such stories, we’d be happy,” she added.

The film follows Pavithra (Haasan), a young woman who lives on her mother’s terms but decides to have sex with her boyfriend. But she has her own reservations and the events that follow make up the story.

“The wafer-thin plot is elevated by a few engaging moments between Pavithra and her friends. Akshara Haasan is apt as the protagonist who is clueless on what she wants in life. As a teenage girl who is torn between her desires and meeting society's expectations, the character is safe in Akshara's hands,” reads OTTPlay’s review of the film.

The actor recently in an exclusive interview with OTTPlay talked about possibly working w ith her father and legendary filmmaker Kamal Haasan. While she said she doesn't know when the day would come, she is hopeful.

Achcham Madam Naanam Payirppu is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
