If you are a fan of the horror genre, then there’s a good chance that you've watched the trailer for Amazon Prime Video's new series, Adhura. The series stars Ishwak Singh, Shrenik Arora, Poojan Chabra, and Rasika Dugal in pivotal roles.

Adhura, which will be available to stream starting July 7, is a chilling journey set in two timelines —2022 and 2007 — and revolves around a prestigious boarding school in Ooty.

One thing that has stood out in the trailer is the scenic backdrop of the Tamil Nadu hill station, with many commenting on the beautiful school structure, the thick forests, and the surreal surroundings.

Now, directors Gauravv Chawla and Ananya Bannerji have revealed the reasons behind their choice of location.

Speaking about why Team Adhura chose to set the story in a school in Ooty, Gauravv said, "Ooty has truly been a revelation for us as directors. Its historical charm and captivating architecture provided the perfect canvas to bring Adhura to life. The surroundings and play of light and shadow added an extra layer of terror, ensuring that viewers are enthralled and captivated by the eerie allure of the series."

Speaking about the school in which the story of the series is set, Ananya said, "We found a real school, and its weathered exteriors, dimly lit hallways, and shadow-drenched corners created an atmosphere that sent shivers down our spines. It was as if the location itself whispered chilling tales of the past, setting the stage for a truly immersive and terrifying experience."

So, what is Adhura about? Secrets, disappearances, and eerie occurrences connect a guilt-ridden alumnus named Adhiraj (Ishwak Singh) and a troubled student named Vedant (Shrenik Arora), blurring the lines between the past and present.

As the shocking truth threatens to unravel, the class of 2007 is forced to confront their inner demons as the school’s core is threatened, forever changing the lives of those involved.

Adhura will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video starting July 7.
