Adi Irani, known for his stint in Welcome, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke and more, made a surprising revelation in his latest interview. The actor revealed that filmmaker Zoya Akhtar had finalized him for a role in her film Dil Dhadakne Do. However, Adi shared that Akhtar replaced him from the Ranveer Singh-starrer without any intimation. He was replaced by Parmeet Sethi in the movie.
Adi Irani revealed that he auditioned twice for Zoya Akhtar's 2015 film Dil Dhadakne Do, which also featured Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma. The filmmaker liked his auditions and finalized him for an important role in the movie. He was initially selected for the role played by Parmeet in the film.
Zoya had called Irani when he was shooting for Welcome Back. When Adi told the director that he would meet her after the comic caper's hoot, she agreed. However, Irani was soon replaced by Parmeet in the movie.
"In between, I don’t know what happened—she selected Parmeet Sethi, and I was not informed about it. I didn’t know what happened when everything had already been finalised, and Zoya herself had taken my audition. I didn’t ask either—it was her choice. This is not professional, but what problem she had, I don’t know. It is very difficult to tell an actor that they have been axed,"he told the entertainment portal.
Adi further said that people in the film industry aren't always frank and everyone has become a 'diplomat'. As far as Dil Dhadakne Do is concerned, the family comedy drama featured Anil Kapoor, Shefali Shah, Ranveer, Anushka and Priyanka in pivotal roles. Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani produced the movie under their production banner Excel Entertainment.
For those unaware, Adi Irani is an actor and brother of veteran actress Aruna Irani. He has worked in several Bollywood movies like Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, Baazigar, Anari No. 1, and more. He was also a part of television shows such as Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli, Pradhanmantri and more.
