Tovino, whose films have been doing significantly well at the box office for the past few years, has proven his acting chops once again in Adrishya Jalakangal. The Biju-helmed movie has been widely dubbed as the actor’s best performance to date.
In the anti-war film, Tovino plays a nameless character. For it, he shed weight and made ‘drastic’ changes to his appearance, and then went on to produce the film as well. The critically acclaimed film is now available for streaming on Netflix.

In Adrishya Jalakangal, Tovino’s character lives in an abandoned railway coach. After being in a mental asylum, where he was dumped by the police for loitering on the street, he develops the ability to communicate with the dead. For reasons best known to the government, it is preparing for war – no one knows why, when or who the enemy is.
The movie also features Nimisha Sajayan and Indrans in pivotal roles. Tovino has described the film as a “socially driven message that will nudge your hearts and make you ponder as to why… where to and what for”. Its music has been scored by three-time Grammy Award-winning Indian composer Ricky Kej.
