After the failure of Laal Singh Chadha, Aamir Khan opted out of the biopic on music baron Gulshan Kumar. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar left the project after he had some creative differences with the team. The biopic, which is titled 'Mogul' has been the talk of the town for a very long time now. The recent reports now reveal that Bhushan Kumar has now fast-tracked the process of the film and new actors are being approached for the project.
The biopic was earlier meant to be directed by Subhash Kapoor, however, he is no longer part of the project now and the new director is yet to be finalised. The project is currently in the scripting phase and a new team of writers has been brought on board to write the narrative as per recent reports by PeepingMoon. The reports also suggest that Bhushan Kumar has now initiated talks with none other than Ranbir Kapoor, who recently delivered one of the biggest hits with Animal. The actor has also shown his interest in the project, however, nothing has been confirmed yet.
According to the same reports, if Ranbir Kapoor declines the project, the producer is planning to then go to Ayushmann Khurrana and Varun Dhawan for the role.
Meanwhile, The Gulshan Kumar biopic was initially announced in March 2017 with Akshay Kumar in the lead role. However, the actor walked out of the project due to creative differences. After a few months, Aamir Khan came on board to headline and co-produced the film, but backed out of the project too after allegations of sexual misconduct against Subhash Kapoor (the then director of the film) during the #MeToo movement.
Let's wait and watch who will headline the biopic between Ranbir Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Ayushmann Khurrana. Stay tuned to OTTplay for more updates on this and everything else happening in the world of streaming and films.
