Not too long ago, Indians fans were convinced that Seo Kang-joon's K-Drama Undercover High School is nothing but Main Hoon Na adaptation. This is because of the similar storyline of an undercover agent in college. While we were still getting over that, Indian fans have found a new comparison. They now believe that IU and Park Bo-gum's upcoming K-Drama When Life Gives You Tangerines is an adaptation of Ranbir Kapoor-Priyanka Chopra-Ileana D'Cruz's Barfi! But, here the real truth...
Barfi was the story of a deaf and mute man falling in love with an autistic woman. When Life Gives You Tangerines might have similar scenes, but the characters are extremely different. They do not face challenges like we saw in Barfi. Sure, there are moments where she breaks down, runs for him and appears extremely childish, but that's just aegyo and not her being autistic. So no, When Life Gives You Tangerines is not Barfi.
Again, except the very basic premise of an undercover agent in college, there's no similarity between Main Hoon Na and Undercover High School. Shah Rukh Khan-Farah Khan's Main Hoon Na was the story of an undercover agent blending in with college students to reunite his family and save a general's daughter from a terrorist. Undercover High School, on the other hand, is a mission of tracking down Emperor Gojong's missing gold bars. Him meeting his childhood lover in his homeroom teacher is partly similar to Main Hoon Na, since Major Ram from the movie did fall for a homeroom teacher but she was not his childhood lover.
