Agent Kannayiram teaser: Santhanam is a smart and suave detective in this dark comedy flick

It was announced earlier that Santhanam will play the lead in the remake of Naveen Polishetty-starrer Telugu hit Agent Sai Srinivasa Athreya (streaming on Amazon Prime Video). The Tamil remake, which has Vanjagar Ulagam (streaming on Netflix) fame Manoj Beedha at the helm, was titled Agent Kannayiram.  

The makers had informed earlier that actors Jiiva and Arya, with whom Santhanam acted in a few memorable movies, will unveil the film's teaser today on his birthday. Both his former co-stars revealed the teaser and wished Santhanam on his special day.

Arya tweeted, "Glad to release this amazing teaser of #AgentKannayiram, Starring birthday boy partner @iamsanthanam, Happy Birthday Darling (sic)." Jiiva, on the other hand, posted, "Happy to release this interesting teaser of #AgentKannayiram, On the occasion of my good friend @iamsanthanam's Birthday (sic)."

The two-minute teaser has Santhanam in the role of Kannayiram, a smart and stylish detective, who hails from a village. He takes up petty cases in the small town which are ignored by the cops. The story takes a serious turn when he starts investigating a sensational case involving a few missing dead bodies.

Riya Suman plays the female lead in the movie and Pugazh, who was last seen sharing screen space with Santhanam in Sabhaapathy (streaming on Amazon Prime Video), will be seen essaying the second fiddle. Sruthi Hariharan, Munishkanth and Redin Kingsley among others play key roles in the project.

Yuvan Shankar Raja scores music for the movie. His retro style and hip hop music is one of the attractions of the teaser. Theni Eashwar and Saravanan Ramasamy have cranked the camera for the film which has editing by Ajay and action choreography by Ajay. Ramesh Marabu has written the screenplay of Agent Kannayiram along with director Manoj.
