Sivaji, which was released in 2007, was instrumental in expanding the market of Tamil cinema. The blockbuster movie brought Rajinikanth and Shankar together for the first time. The film which opened to unanimous positive reviews from critics and the audience went on to become a huge hit in a few other states, too.

The stylish appearance of Rajini, AR Rahman's pulsating songs and background score, Peter Hein's action sequences, Thotta Tharani's art direction and KV Anand's cinematography were a few aspects which received thumbs up from several quarters. The big budget movie went on to surpass previous Rajini's films to emerge the highest grossing Tamil flick.

AVM Productions, which bankrolled the gargantuan project, recently took to Twitter to announce that they are coming up with a few surprises for Rajini fans and other film lovers as the film is set to celebrate its 15th year in a couple of days.

The other day, they released an unseen still from the popular Balleilakka song, which features Rajini and Nayanthara. Later, a video featuring fans of the Superstar expressing their excitement on watching him during the shooting was also posted by the production house. Now, they have come up with a new working still which features Rajini, Cochin Haneefa, Shankar and KV Anand. Fans are also loving the short BTS video of the sensational Athiradi song, featuring Rajini and Shriya Saran.

Fans of the star are excited to the core after seeing the stills released by makers, and are looking forward to more surprises from them. The movie was later re-released after five years with a 3D version.

Though films like Enthiran, 2.0 and Petta which were released later made fans of the star happy, many of them still believe that Sivaji (streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Zee5) was the last true-blue Rajinikanth movie. One of the biggest blockbusters of Kollywood, it dropped on Netflix as well in 2021.
