Asif Ali-starrer Rekhachithram, powered by an interesting plot and stellar performances, emerged to be the first hit film from Malayalam in 2025. Anaswara Rajan is also a pivotal part of this thriller, which is now gearing up for its digital premiere. Before Rekhachithram makes its much-awaited OTT release on Sony Liv on March 7, 2025, here’s how much the Malayalam thriller film has earned.
How much Rekhachithram has made
Rekhachithram, which released in theatres on January 9, 2025, opened to glowing reviews and won over the audiences too in no time. The film crossed the Rs 50 crore milestone within two weeks at the box office. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the Malayalam film has made a worldwide box office collection of Rs 56.75 crore. Twitter handles, meanwhile, claim the earnings in the range of around Rs 57.30 crore.
The leading star had earlier put up a post on Instagram that stated Jofin T Chacko’s directorial film made over Rs 75 crore in worldwide business. During a success celebration of Rekahchithram held in Dubai, Asif Ali expressed his delight that only his film managed to become a hit among the several others that released in theatres in January 2025. Mammootty and Gautham Vasudev Menon's Dominic and the Ladies' Purse, and Basil Joseph-starrer Ponman were among the other January releases from Malayalam.
Rekhachithram OTT release
Rekhachithram will make its OTT premiere on Sony Liv and OTTplay Premium on March 7, 2025. Viewers can watch the Malayalam thriller film in Tamil, Telugu and also in Hindi with English subtitles.

Rekhachithram plot
Rekhachithram, which has a story penned by Ramu Sunil, follows a cop Vivek who stumbles upon a 40-year-old case about the mysterious disappearance of a young woman, who was last spotted at a film set in 1985. The said film is Kathodu Kathoram, directed by Bharathan and starring Mammootty. Rekhachithram is all about how the makers skillfully present the investigation in the present day about an incident that happened 40 years ago.
