Aishwarya Rajinikanth posts a picture of her Superstar dad having a gala time with his grandsons

Fans of Superstar Rajinikanth had several reasons to celebrate their matinee idol's 72nd birthday yesterday. Many films of the legendary actor, including Sivaji, 2.0 and Darbar were screened in different theatres, while his two decade-old movie Baba had a wide re-release, too.

Numerous enthusiastic fans took to social media to share pics and videos from the screening of the films. People from different fields wished the star and recollected their experience with him by posting their favourite photo of the actor. However, what most of the fans were expecting was an update from Jailer, the numero uno Tamil hero's forthcoming project.

The makers of the movie delivered what was expected from them; they came up with a short character introduction video which revealed Rajinikanth's appearance from the movie. Anirudh's background score and the staging complemented the abruptly ended promo video.

As if this isn't enough, fans were surprised to see a picture posted by the star's daughter and filmmaker Aishwarya. She took to her social media pages to release a photo of Rajini having a gala time with his grandsons Yatra and Lingaa. The star is seen sitting on a sofa and Yatra is spotted holding him from back. Lingaa is all smiles and poses for the photo sitting on floor. 

Fans are now awaiting the release date of Jailer which is being helmed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Sun Pictures is bankrolling the film which has Anirudh composing music. Ramya Krishnan, Shivaraj Kumar, Yogi Babu, Vasanth and Vinayakan among others essay notable roles in the project.

There are unconfirmed reports of the film hitting the screens as a summer release. An announcement from the makers is expected to happen soon.
