The makers of Raid announced a while back that plans to develop a sequel to the 2018 film are in full swing. Now it seems that the Bollywood film will also get a remake. It was reported that a Telugu remake of the Ajay Devgn starrer is in the works.
According to a report in Pinkvilla, the remake will be helmed by Harish Shankar and the director had recently been to Mumbai to discuss matters related to the film. Kumar Mangat Pathak, who had served as a producer on the original film, will also back the Telugu version under the banner of Panorama Studios.
A source told the portal that the makers were currently deciding on the lead star of the film, who will play Devgn’s role. The remake was still in the initial stage and the makers are expected to make an official announcement regarding the same soon.
Raid (2018), revolved around the story of the case of an income tax raid in the 1980s, that targeted industrialist Sardar Inder Singh. One of the longest raids that ever took place in India, it had spanned three days and two nights. The film, directed by Raj Kumar Gupta, starred Devgn, Saurabh Shukla and Ileana D'Cruz and can be streamed on Disney+Hotstar. The sequel of the film will reportedly focus on perfume trader Piyush Jain, whose houses and factories in Kanpur and Kannauj had come under the scanner of the Income Tax department. The sequel will be produced by Pathak as well.
Shankar was currently busy working on his next project titled Bhavadeeyudu Bhagat Singh. The project reunites him with Pawan Kalyan, who he had collaborated with on the 2012 film Gabbar Singh.
