Kollywood film buffs were surprised when Vignesh Shivan, who was supposed to direct AK 62 (tentative title), was replaced by Lyca Productions owing to differences in opinion. Ajith, who plays the lead in the film, flew down to the UK recently to discuss the replacement with the production house.

After a few names surfaced on social media, it was more or less confirmed that Magizh Thirumeni will be helming the movie, though an official update is awaited. Amid speculations of Santhosh Narayanan being roped in as the music director, his latest cryptic tweet confirmed his inclusion, too, in the film.

Ajith has now returned to Chennai and a few pictures of him started doing the rounds on social media. He is seen sporting a blue checkered shirt and posing patiently with a few fans at the airport.

It is now expected that Lyca Productions would come up with an official announcement on AK 62, and fans are posting tweets with the hashtag #AK62. They believe that it's just a matter of time before an update is unveiled by makers. Movie lovers are curious to know about details of other cast and crew of the project.

As the team's plan is to release the film during Deepavali, its shooting is likely to commence soon. AK 62 marks the first collaboration of Ajith with Lyca, Magizh and Santhosh. Fans are also eager to know if Ajith and Vignesh might team up in the future.

Meanwhile, the star's Thunivu, which was dropped on Netflix a week ago, has opened to record viewership on the platform. The film's Tamil and Hindi versions have been trending in several countries.
