Akshay Kumar on reuniting with Saif Ali Khan for Priyadarshan's Haiwaan: 'He is a very funny guy'

Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are two versatile actors who have done several popular movies. The duo was last seen together in Tashan, directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. A few months ago, it was reported that Akshay and Saif will be reuniting for an edge-of-the-seat thriller, Haiwaan, directed by Priyadarshan. Now, in a new interview, Akshay opened up about reuniting with Saif.

In a new interview with Hindustan Times, Akshay Kumar opened up about reuniting with Saif Ali Khan for Priyadarshan's Haiwaan. He said, “It’s great that I am working again with Priyadarshan ji, and sabse achhi baat yeh hai ki main Saif Ali Khan ke saath kaam kar raha hoon. After a long, long time we are both going to come together, and I am actually waiting to start shooting with him." 

Akki further added, "He is also a very funny guy, but farak yehi hai ki uska jo humor hai woh bohot hi SoBo hai — bohot hi South Bombay hai — aur mera jo hai woh Andheri, Borivali se aage tak jaata hai. Dono ka humor bilkul alag hai, but it’s so much fun shooting with him."

Hindustan Times reported that the team felt the title, Haiwaan (Beast), best described their subject matter and revealed exactly how Priyadarshan sees it - as an edge-of-the-seat thriller. "There were other titles in contention, but this one clicked unanimously, given the characters the lead actors play," the source added. 

Meanwhile, Haiwaan is likely to go on floors in August 2025 and is scheduled for a release in 2026.

For the unversed, apart from Tashan and ahead of Haiwaan, Akshay and Saif have earlier collaborated on several hit films, including the cult classic Main Khiladi Tu Anari (1994), Yeh Dillagi (1994), Tu Chor Main Sipahi (1996), and Keemat (1998).

Akshay will be seen in Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan. The film is based on mythology and black magic, inspired by the Vedas and the Mahabharata. It will also feature an ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, and Asrani. He also has Welcome to the Jungle and Hera Pheri 3.

Meanwhile, Saif Ali Khan was seen in the film Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins. Directed by Kookie Gulati and Robbie Grewal, it also stars Jaideep Ahlawat. The film received mixed responses from fans and critics.
