According to reports, the untitled project will be a drama.
Akshay Kumar is reportedly set to collaborate with Good Newwz director Raj Mehta, and producer Karan Johar for a new film.
Good Newwz, which released in 2019, was a comedy that followed two couples who visit a fertility clinic for IVF treatment. However, a mix-up occurs, and how these four individuals dealt with it forms the rest of the story. Kiara Advani, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Diljit Dosanjh were also part of the cast.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, the untitled film from the trio will venture into the drama genre “with a strong dose of emotions”, and will be unlike their first collaboration.
An anonymous source that’s close to the development told the outlet that the project will go on floors by January or February 2022 after Kumar has wrapped Ranjit Tiwari’s thriller Cinderella, Amit Rai-directed Oh My God 2, and Abhishek Sharma’s Ram Setu.
The makers have begun the pre-production work, and are currently scouting for a location in the United Kingdom.
Besides this new project, Kumar has a host of titles awaiting release. These include Sooryavanshi (October 22), Prithviraj (November 6), Raksha Bandhan (August 11, 2022), and Bachchan Pandey (March 4, 2022).
Mehta had most recently directed a short of Netflix anthology Ajeeb Daastaans that began streaming on April 16. He will next helm Jug Jugg Jeeyo, starring Varun Dhawan, Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and YouTuber Prajakta Koli. The romantic comedy will see Anil and Neetu share the screen space for the first time.
