Sudha Kongara Prasad, the director of the blockbuster flick Soorarai Pottru has confirmed that the Hindi remake of the same is in the early stages of planning. Akshay Kumar is fixed as the lead character of the movie, as per the latest reports. Sudha shot to worldwide fame with the movie which is based on true incidents of GR Gopinath’s life. He was an aviation pilot who dreamt of making travel via air affordable to the common man without compromising the capability and safety of the aircraft.

In an interview with Spotboye, the writer and director of the film, Sudha said, “It is all discussion stage only. Only the producers are on board officially. I need to start writing the Hindi version.”

Sudha has also directed a very fine pugilist film, Irudhi Suttru (Saala Khadoos in Hindi) with superstar R Madhavan and Ritika Singh.

When she was asked if she ever imagined such a huge global impact for Soorarai Pottru, the filmmaker said that it was all in God’s hands and that she remembers when the movie streamed on OTT she was extremely glad. The massive reach and the love the saga received was beyond everything and so she decided to stop talking and let God do the rest.

Amid this, Guneet Monga who is one of the producers of Soorarai Pottru has obtained a stay order from the Madras High Court against Suriya for selling the Hindi rights to Vikram Malhotra of Abundantia Films without her consent. This could potentially delay the Hindi remake of the movie.

The original movie starred Aparna Balamurali in the female lead role and is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
