From an ageing wrestler (Salman Khan) reclaiming his fame in Sultan (2016) to an unbeatable NCB officer (Shahid Kapoor) in Bloody Daddy (2023), Ali Abbas Zafar's films have provided audiences with unforgettable action heroes. However, the fate of the promised action heroine remains a mystery. The director revealed a superhero film starring Katrina Kaif in 2019. When asked if Super Soldier, starring her, would be his next big thing after Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the filmmaker said that for the time being, the film is on hold.

Developing a new action film with Katrina Kaif

During an interaction with Mid Day, Zafar revealed that Katrina and he are working on an action film script. He believes she's fantastic in terms of action. The director mentions that they both enjoy a script and want to complete it soon.

A large canvas and an extravagant budget are typically necessary for this genre. In a business that is cautious about going all out for films starring women, Zafar notes that the film's math must be right. Crew's financial success has dispelled preconceptions about the future of all-female films. At this precise moment, the stakes in any action film are really high. That movie is definitely going to be his.

It is more challenging to produce an action film with a female lead, though. However, with a hit like Crew, it becomes much simpler. The producers can take heart from the film's successful box office returns. The predicted box office receipts are a direct indicator of a film's success. Zafar has certain reservations about it, but in the end, it's just a business.

Ali Abbas Zafar's shift from romantic comedies to action

The romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011) was Zafar's first step into film, but in recent years he has become known for his action films. When asked why he didn't venture further into the genre, the filmmaker confessed that he yearns for the days of crafting romantic comedies, but he hasn't discovered the ideal script to re-enter the genre.

Apparently, he has lost all ability to conjure up tales like that. In today's social media era, romance is either fading away or changing. Writing about love requires an emotional investment, and the quality of the writing has contributed to the success of many romantic films. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, an authentic film about young people bewildered by heart concerns, was made during their innocent youth.
