It all happened (read ‘started’) with that by-now-famous ‘Koffee episode’ of ‘Koffee With Karan’, wherein the guests on the couch were the fiery and feisty Kangna Ranaut and Saif Ali Khan. Known for not mincing her words nature, Kangna was on a verbal unleash in that episode. It seemed that she had just opened up the ‘Pandora’s Box’ and let open the topic of nepotism, a term whose echo still resonates even today. And whenever there is Karan Johar and nepotism, it had become a given that Alia Bhatt’s name would simply pop up, stating that Karan Johar always favored the star kids by launching them in his films.
Speaking of Alia Bhatt, there has always been lots of discussion about how she is the product and testimony of nepotism. Well... in the recent edition of ‘Vogue’, Alia Bhatt gives a befitting reply to all those who call and term her as a ‘nepo-baby’. Speaking in an interview to the magazine, Alia Bhatt said, “The only thing I can do is build a body of work which hopefully proves I belong in this industry. I always make it a point to acknowledge the easy start I got at the beginning of my career. And sure, it will get you in the room, but then it’s up to you to work that room. The audience is actually the best judge of talent. You could come from a background that props you up but the audience will ultimately decide whether or not you belong there”.
Speaking of Alia Bhatt and the privileges that she had got, even Aishwarya Rai Bachchan spoke about it in an ea rlier interview with Bollywood Hungama. The former ‘Miss World’ tuned actress said that “The kind of support Karan has given to her from the beginning. To have that kind of an establishment with you is very comforting. It’s not tough to have it laid out for you, for the longest time, and she smiled. It’s great for you as an actor as there is only good work and good opportunities ahead. What’s nice is she’s also doing good work along with great opportunities which are virtually there on her lap literally, regularly. So, it’s nice she is doing good work within that”.
On the professional front, Alia Bhatt will now be seen in the Hollywood flick ‘Heart Of Stone’. This film, which marks the debut of Alia Bhatt in Hollywood, will see Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan as her co-stars. The film will be premiered on Netflix this year. Besides this, Alia Bhatt will be seen alongwith Ranveer Singh in the Karan Johar directed ‘Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’. Besides Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, the film also stars veteran Bollywood actors including Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, and Shabana Azmi. Besides ‘Rocky aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani’, Alia Bhatt will be seen in the Farhan Akhtar directed ‘Jee Le Zara’. Besides Alia Bhatt, the film also stars Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.
