It has been a fulfilling two years for Alia Bhatt, personally and professionally. The actor got her biggest hit with Gangubai Kathiawadi, and she then tied the knot with Ranbir Kapoor a couple of months later. Alia then had her film Darlings released on Netflix, which marked her debut as a producer. Soon after that, the actor embraced motherhood and welcomed her daughter, Raha. Earlier this year, Alia made her Met Gala debut, her Hollywood debut with Heart of Stone, and delivered yet another blockbuster with Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

Passion for acting:

During her interaction with Vogue Singapore, the actor revealed where she got this love for acting from. Alia stated, "When I was a young girl watching movies and listening to songs, it brought out that creative spark and curiosity within me. It fell into place when I realised, 'Oh! That’s actually a profession.' It seemed like fun. It started as something that a child wanted to do, and honestly, it’s not. When I say it’s a dream come true, I mean it."

Learning from legends:

Meanwhile, when asked about what changes she observed after working in films like Dear Zindagi and Gangubai Kathiawadi, the Brahmastra star said, "Each directorial experience has taught me something. With Dear Zindagi, I learned so much from Shah Rukh Khan. He made such an impact on the way I am and how I behave on set. His behaviour, respect, and inclination towards everything in a scene—I learned a lot from that."

About the 2022 Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Alia shared that Gangubai Kathiawadi made her feel like she was starting over at an acting academy. An actor is never the same after leaving a Sanjay Leela Bhansali set. It's the people one works with that help them get ready for the next trip, but it's not like they will ever have all the answers. If one arrives on set with an open mind and the realisation that they don't know everything, they will learn something new with every film.

Mentorship and influence:

Alia made her Bollywood debut with Karan Johar's Student of the Year in 2012. On being quizzed about what she learned from Bhansali and him, the actor revealed, "My career started with Karan. I learned all about decorum, behaviour, respect, and understanding. I’ve adopted certain nurturing qualities from him as well. And from Sanjay Leela Bhansali, I learned imagination. I learned guts. I learned the freedom of knowing that anything is possible in front of a camera and that nothing is permanent. They are two very different people, but two very strong personalities and influences on my life. Both, I would say, are my mentors."

On the work front, Alia will next be seen in Vasan Bala's Jigra, which she has co-produced with Karan Johar.
