Alia Bhatt is reaching yet another milestone! If news reports are to be believed, the Gangubai Kathiawadi star is making her very first appearance at the prestigious Met Gala in New York next month. The actress - who is also making her Hollywood debut with the Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan starrer action thriller film Heart of Stone later on later this year - will walk the red carpet at the globally-renowned fashion event that takes place every year at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute.

Often referred to as the ‘fashion’s biggest night out’, Alia will be following in the footsteps of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, among others, who have previously made a mark at the Met Gala with their fashion choices. For Alia’s debut, the Darlings star has picked a custom design by Nepalese-American designer Prabal Gurung.

Happening on May 1, the theme for this year’s event is ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’. It celebrates the legacy of fashion designer Karl Otto Lagerfeld, who served as the creative director of the couture house Chanel, and was a regular attendee at The Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute.

The Met Gala 2023 is a fundraising benefit for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The event welcomes stars, young creatives and industry paragons.
