Several reports circulated on Tuesday, suggesting that Ananya Panday has selected the Karan Johar-produced film Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, starring Kartik Aaryan, over Imtiaz Ali and her upcoming maiden collaboration. The latter filmmaker's upcoming project is set to be a period love drama starring Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, and Vedang Raina. Now, as per the latest reports, the truth has come out regarding what happened.
As per reports in Pinkvilla, the next period love story, which was meant to be Panday and Ali's first project together, has been postponed. The two have amicably agreed to split ways. Unfortunately, scheduling conflicts prevented this great collaboration from taking place.
The entertainment portal also reported that Panday did not opt for the upcoming romantic comedy Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri with Aaryan over Ali's film, contrary to reports. An insider told them Ali and Panday would not work together because their schedules conflict with filming dates.
Casting has begun for Ali's film, which will also involve three generations of female actors. The film, which has not been titled yet, is set to hit theatres on Valentine's Day weekend in 2026 after going on floors in the summer of 2025.
While fans eagerly await Panday's upcoming projects, which follow a successful 2024, they include Kesari: Chapter 2 starring Akshay Kumar and R. Madhavan, Chand Mera Dil featuring Lakshya, and Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri co-starring Aaryan.
Karan Singh Tyagi's Kesari: Chapter 2 will hit theatres on March 14, 2025. Vivek Soni will direct Chand Mera Dil, another 2025 release. Directed by Sameer Vidwans, titled Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, will be released in 2026.
In addition to directing Idiots of Istanbul, a romantic comedy starring Fahadh Fasil and Triptii Dimri, Ali is involved in other projects. The filmmaker plans to begin work on the project in the first half of 2026.
Imtiaz Ali has made amends in the digital realm in the past year, enjoying success on OTT with Amar Singh Chamkila and re-releases such as Rockstar, Laila Majnu, and Tamasha. His fans have been eagerly awaiting news about his next ventures ever since. A romantic comedy called Idiots of Istanbul is reportedly under production by Imtiaz Ali, starring Fahadh Faasil and Triptii Dimri. However, Ali would helm the period love story starring Dosanjh, Raina, and Shah before Idiots of Istanbul.
