Vinay Rajkumar’s first release of the year, the much-delayed Andondittu Kaala, finally made it to theatres in late August, but the outing was rather limited. Despite a lacklustre theatrical release, Andondittu Kaala was reported to have struck a streaming deal and it was said that the film would land on Sun NXT on October 17. However, there was no sign of the film on the platform and soon enough, word spread that it had, instead, found its way to Amazon Prime Video.
Expired rights?
Andondittu Kaala did, indeed, drop on the streamer, but not long after, when OTTplay attempted to check it out, found that it is no longer available. The message that read was, ‘This title is unavailable due to expired rights’. Had the streamer picked the film for half a day only? This was, sadly, enough time for it to be pirated, which will impact the film’s performance on any platform it heads to now. As of late on October 17, Andondittu Kaala remained unavailable on any platform.
In the film, Vinay played Kumara, a village boy from Hagalavadi, who loves movies and dreams of becoming a director. Andondittu Kaala followed his journey from childhood to adulthood, the struggles he faces, and the support that helps him follow his dream. The film also starred Aditi Prabhudeva, Nisha Ravikrishnan, Mohan Juneja, V Ravichandran, Kaddipudi Chandru. Aruna Balraj, Babu Hiranaiah, Govinde Gowda, among others.
