Andondittu Kaala’s Vinay Rajkumar: My filmography is not tailored for stardom or....

A few years ago, Vinay Rajkumar had said that the pursuit of stardom was never on his radar; he’d rather want audiences to see him as an artiste. Cut to now, and one part of that statement remains – he’s still not fascinated by the idea of being a star, but what has changed is that he now says that his choice of films is not tailored towards any goal, not stardom or being known as a versatile actor. Although Vinay is only 6 films old as a leading man, the general perception is that he will be seen films that prioritise content over style.

Vinay Rajkumar: I do not follow a particular plan...

“My journey right now does not have a specific direction; I just keep doing films. If I like a certain story, I will do it. It’s not based on a plan that I need to do certain films to establish myself in a particular fashion. At any given time, if a director narrates a story which appeals to me and if I am able to gel well with the filmmaker, then I will work with him. I am just going with the flow and not as per any plan,” Vinay told Cini Store during the promotions of his next, Andondittu Kaala, which is releasing in theatres on August 29.

Andondittu Kaala is a film that Vinay doesn’t reveal much, other than that he plays Kumar, whose journey of aspiring to be a filmmaker since childhood and the if and how he eventually fulfils that dream forms the rest of the narrative. “It’s the life journey of a director; why does he want to follow that career? What’s his inspiration? What are his struggles? All this, as well as how his family reacts to his career choice is what Andondittu Kaala is about,” is all that Vinay will reveal.

Vinay is paired with Aditi Prabhudeva in the film, which also stars V Ravichandran, Nisha Ravikrishnan, Kaddipudi Chandru and Aruna Balraj. Directed by debutant Keerthi Krishnappa, the film has music by Raghavendra V, with the song Mungaru Maleyali a run-away hit with over 50 million views.
