Angammal OTT release date: When and where to stream Geetha Kailasam’s critically acclaimed film

Angammal, one of the critically acclaimed Tamil films of 2025, which features actor Geetha Kailasam in the lead role, is all set to make its OTT debut very soon. After a month of theatrical release, Angammal will begin streaming from the upcoming week on SunNXT and OTTplay Premium.

Angammal is a recently released Tamil film. After a festival run, Angammal hit theatres on December 5 and opened to good reviews. Now, the film is gearing up for OTT release. You can steam Angammal on SunNXT from January 9. Subscribers of OTTplay Premium can also watch the film.

Featuring actor Geetha Kailasam who is often seen playing mother roles, as the lead, Angammal is a slice-of-life drama film. It is helmed by director Vipin Radhakrishnan and based on Perumal Murugan’s short story Kodi Thuni. Angammal is about the titular character, a middle-aged woman who lives in a village somewhere in Tirunelveli. Known for her independence and free-spirited and nature, the film revolves around all the actions taken by her family to coerce her into wearing a saree blouse so as to look presentable in front of her younger son’s would-be in-laws.

Who is the team behind Angammal?

Angammal had opened to critically good reviews upon its release, and explores the themes of independence, liberation, and identity. Geetha Kailasam who had limited screen time but created an impact in films like Amaran, Natchathiram Nagargiradhu and Lover, has played the titular role, while actors Saran Sakthi, Bharani, Thendral Raghunathan, Yasmine and others are also part of the film as supporting characters. The technical crew includes music scored by Mohammed Maqbool Mansoor, cinematographer and editor Pradeep Shankar.
