New Year 2026 is around the corner, and that means Tamil cinema is looking forward to some updates and titles. With two major films -Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi - to hit theatres, here are some Tamil titles set to release on OTT in January 2026.
Most-awaited Tamil OTT releases in January 2026
Angammal – (OTT release yet to be announced)
Angammal is a drama film starring Geetha Kailasam in the lead role and directed by Vipin Radhakrishnan. The film is adapted from Perumal Murugan’s story Kodithuni and revolves around a mother, who is coerced by her younger son to wear a saree blouse so as to look presentable in front of his lover’s well-to-do family. Angammal explores the themes of liberation, identity, and independence through the lens of a rural, middle-aged woman.
LBW – JioHotstar via OTTplay Premium (OTT release yet to be announced)
The sports drama web series revolves around the game of cricket and a coach who comes to train a young team. After a washed-up PT teacher takes up the role of training a bunch of misfit students, the duo comes together to create a legacy. The show is directed by GK, and stars Vikranth in his OTT debut.
Sirai – ZEE5 via OTTplay Premium (OTT release date yet to be announced)
Sirai is a crime drama starring actor Vikram Prabhu in the lead role. It revolves around an escort cop who has to produce an accused to the local court. But during their journey, the accused escaped with a police rifle, making the cops go berserk about the situation. The film is directed by Suresh Rajakumari, with a story penned by director Tamizh of Taanakkaran fame.
Retta Thala – (OTT release yet to be announced)
Retta Thala is an action thriller film starring Arun Vijay in dual roles. The film is helmed by Kris Thirukumaran and stars Siddhi Idnani as the female lead. The film promises a gritty actioner along with some high-octane drama and entertainment. The film has music by Sam CS.

Kombuseevi – (OTT release yet to be announced)
Kombuseevi is a gangster drama, which stars Sarathkumar and Shanmuga Pandian, the son of late actor Vijayakanth. Helmed by filmmaker Ponram, the ensemble cast also includes Tharnika, Anaira Gupta, George Maryan, and Sujith Shankar. Kombuseevi is based on true events in areas surrounding Vaigai Dam and the conflict between two villages.
