Uppu Kappurambu is one of the most awaited Telugu films, all set to stream on Amazon Prime from July 4, 2025. There is a strong buzz surrounding the film, which has been directed by Ani I. V. Sasi. Speaking in an interview, he stated that the film is a satirical social drama that touches on the theme of unity in diversity on a small scale.
Featuring Keerthy Suresh in the lead role, the film also stars Suhas in an important character. Ani reveals that Keerthy Suresh plays a village sarpanch—an innocent young woman who is forced to take up the post after the death of her father. He adds that the story follows how a helpless sarpanch seeks the help of a burial ground employee, who has his own issues, to solve major problems in the village, particularly those related to the burial ground.
The trailer showcases a burial ground in a small village, which has only four cremation spots left. How things spiral out of control and how villagers fight to claim these spots forms the basic premise of the film.
"The central theme of the film is to portray unity in diversity. How the characters of Suhas and Keerthy Suresh come together and unite the village for a social cause is shown in a humorous way," says Ani.
When asked about casting Suhas in such a role, the director said, "Suhas has done several rustic village dramas in the past. After watching some of his performances, we felt he was a perfect fit for the role of a burial ground employee. Also, Suhas and Keerthy Suresh come from two very different acting styles, and this contrast adds an interesting dynamic," concludes Ani.
Uppu Kappurambu has been made on a very tight budget, with the entire shoot wrapped up in just 28 days. Keerthy shot for 18 days, while Suhas was on set for 20 days, according to sources. There is solid buzz around the film, especially because Suhas—known for his socially relevant and realistic dramas—is part of the project. Stay tuned for more updates.
