Vishwambhara is one of the most awaited films in Telugu cinema, but sadly, it is yet to lock a release date. After the teaser's release, Chiranjeevi was quite upset with the trolls regarding the VFX and ordered the makers to redo the entire VFX segment. This is also one of the major reasons for the film's delay.
Mouni Roy bags a Telugu biggie
It has been over two years since the film kick-started its shoot, and a few scenes are still pending. Now, to make things interesting, the makers have roped in Hindi star Mouni Roy for a special number. She is scheduled to shoot the item song in July 2025, as per reports.
Despite the presence of several big stars, choosing Mouni Roy is an interesting move by the makers. Vassishta is directing the film, and Vishwambhara marks his second directorial venture after the success of Bimbisara with Kalyan Ram, which ended up being a smash hit.
MM Keeravani has composed the music for the film and has been paid a hefty amount for it. On the other hand, another major reason for the film’s delay is that no OTT platform has come forward to acquire the streaming rights.
Of late, OTT platforms have been dictating release schedules in Telugu cinema, but the rates quoted by the makers of Vishwambhara reportedly shocked the likes of Amazon and Netflix. The discussions are still on as of now.
Vishwambhara release date tensions resurface
The makers are now trying hard to secure a deal so they can finalize a release date. We at OTTplay have already reported that the makers are planning to release Vishwambhara in the summer of 2026, after Chiranjeevi's new film with Anil Ravipudi hits screens on January 12, 2026, as a Sankranthi special.
