Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Animal hit the big screen on December 1, 2023. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, the movie clashed with Vicky Kaushal's Sam Bahadur at the box office. Despite that, Animal has emerged as one of the highest-grossing films of this year. Within 16 days of its theatrical run, the movie entered the coveted ₹800 crore club globally. And now, Animal has raced past ₹500 crore at the domestic box office.
Animal box office collection Day 17
Animal set the cash register ringing since day one of its theatrical release. According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the Ranbir Kapoor film minted ₹15 crore on day 17 at the ticket window. Considering the same, the total domestic box office collection of Animal now stands at ₹512.94 crore.
On the other hand, Animal, also starring Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol, earned ₹817.36 crore at the global box office. The film's box office numbers are enough to prove that Vanga's movie is a blockbuster of 2023.
Animal on OTT
Once Animal's theatrical run ends, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer will drop on Netflix. While there's no official announcement yet, it is expected to premiere in January 2024. Media reports suggest that Animal will released on the OTT platform with an additional 30 minutes as its runtime. The theatrical runtime of the film is 3 hours and 21 minutes.
About Animal's sequel
Meanwhile, Animal's sequel, Animal Park, has been confirmed. Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the pivotal role in Sandeep's film while his mother Neetu Kapoor is expected to be a part of the film. Triptii Dimri, who played the role of Zoya in Animal, is likely to enjoy more screen time in Animal Park. Although she had limited screen presence in Animal, the actress became the national crush and she witnessed a spike in her Instagram followers.
