Animal’s son is obsessed with his father, mine was different - Ranbir Kapoor shares glimpses of his bond with dad Rishi Kapoor

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is getting all nostalgic while talking about the father-son bonding relating his reel life to real life during an event in Mumbai. Animal movie leading star Ranbir Kapoor is vigorously doing the promotional events for his upcoming film as the release date is nearing and it’s now a pulsating countdown since it gets to be unveiled tomorrow.

Ranbir Kapoor strikes the similarities and challenges for his Animal character

The 41-year-old actor is currently leaving no stone unturned to promote his new film Animal directed by Kabir Singh fame director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The Barfi actor recently attended an event in Mumbai alongside his Animal movie team with costar Rashmika Mandanna to discuss the awaited film.

During a candid conversation, a reporter asked how does Ranbir Kapoor relate to his character in the film and how he put up with it. The Brahmastra actor shared that his relationship with his father was just like any other father-son relationship in India with mixed emotions. “I think the relationship that I shared with my father was like most of the father and son’s relationship in India, a bit distance, a bit of fear and a lot of love and respect,” he said.

Kapoor also responded to the question with his Animal character and revealed that his bond was different than the reel character, who is obsessed with his father. Citing the connection, he said, “Animal is about seeing a father-son relationship through obsessed son. It is very different from what I shared with my real dad. Somewhere subconciously you have certain beats and certain moments in life you need to have an emotional band to play such scenes.”

Ranbir Kapoor also reminisced about an incident when he debuted with Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor and how his presence reminded him of his father Rishi Kapoor. “Mein kisi ka baap nahi banunga but tu jab lekar aayega, mein tera baap zaroor banunga,” Animal actor said (I’ll not be anyone’s father but I’ll become your father, when you’ll bring me).

He also added, “I share a warm relationship with him all these years and finally to play a father and son relationship with him. I’m very grateful to him and I see a lot of my father in him because they come from a similar generation, they have a similar thinking pattern and so while performing with him, there were a lot of sweet memories we got.”

Animal director Sandeep Vanga roped in a stellar star cast with Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in leading roles. It will be clashing with Vicky Kaushal’s Sam Bahadur as it releases in theatres on December 1.
