A still from the film

One of the biggest releases of Tamil this year was Rajinikanth-starrer Annaatthe, which has been directed by Siva. The family drama features an ensemble cast, including Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Khushbu, Meena, Prakash Raj, Jagapathi Babu, Abhimanyu Singh, Sathish and Soori among others. The movie was one of the two Tamil releases which hit the screens on the occasion of Deepavali, on November 4.

The big budget project, which was Rajinikanth's release after a year and a half, had opened to mixed reviews. The star's screen presence and music by Imman were two aspects which received unanimous response from the audience. After three weeks of its theatrical release, Annaatthe has started streaming on a couple of OTT platforms.

What's Annaatthe all about?

The film is about the emotional relationship between a doting brother and his little sister. The latter chooses a life partner without the former's knowledge and faces a slew of difficulties after moving to Kolkata. Upon hearing her sister's woes, the dutiful brother sets out to take on a few baddies who made his sister's life burdensome.

How he lands up in Kolkata accompanied by his aides and ensures a hassle-free life for her sister forms the rest of the story. Rajinikanth essays Kaaliyan, a village ruffian while Keerthy Suresh, as Thanga Meenakshi, plays his sister.

When and where to watch Annaatthe online?

The movie has started streaming on Netflix and Sun NXT from November 25. There were speculations earlier that the film will have its OTT premiere after three weeks of its theatrical release. Annaatthe is streaming in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi on Netflix.

Rajinikanth's Petta was the last film to have an OTT premiere on Netflix. It was available on the platform after three months of its theatrical release.
