Since its announcement, Kartik Aaryan and filmmaker Anurag Basu's untitled project has sparked intense intrigue, with fans trying to guess the name of the film and the identity of the female lead. Last week, some intriguing rumours were heard regarding the Aaryan and Sreeleela Love musical, which began shooting at Film City in Mumbai.
According to the sources informing Mid Day in the industry, the film's plot is very similar to the one in filmmaker Mohit Suri's next feature starring newcomer Ahaan Panday. In each film, the protagonist is a budding musician who dreams of becoming famous.
The tabloid revealed last week that Yash Raj Films is helping Suri finish her movie. A reliable source has informed them that his film is expected to be wrapped up by the first week of April, whereas Basu's love musical just began to shoot a week ago and has been declared as a Diwali gift to fans. Suri's film, on the other hand, will undoubtedly release before the festival, despite producer Aditya Chopra's unspecified release date.
Given the rumours about parallels between the two plots, that would work against Basu. The source added that people in the film industry have been surprised by the commonality. Kartik plays a singer-songwriter who suffers adversity on his way to stardom in Anurag's film. The film by Mohit, which stars Ahaan, also addresses similar topics.
Curiously, Suri and Basu both graduated from the Bhatts' film school; Suri's debut feature was Zeher (2005), while Basu's was Saaya (2003).
Another insider added that there are countless ways to explore the theme of a musician's love story. The two filmmakers have maintained communication throughout the years and likely conferred with one another to ensure that their respective narratives do not overlap.
