Tovino Thomas’ latest investigative thriller, Anweshippin Kandethum, has made its way to the most watched films on Netflix this week. The film, which had a theatrical release on February 9, was out on the OTT platform on March 8.
Anweshippin Kandethum received attention from Malayalam filmgoers, who are renowned for their love of crime stories. Now, movie buffs all over the nation as well as the world are watching and applauding the investigative thriller.
The elaborate storytelling and performances in the Darwin Kuriakose-directed film have left an impression on the audience. Thanks to its excellent reviews and word-of-mouth promotion, the movie managed to generate an adequate sum of revenue at the box office during the release of a few other highly anticipated projects, such as Mammootty’s Bramayugam and Soubin Shahir’s Manjummel Boys.
What is Anweshippin Kandethum all about?
Sub-inspector Anand Narayanan and his team are suspended at the start of the movie after the inquiry into a woman's murder has tragic results for everyone involved. Months later, they are assigned a murder case in a remote area that also happens to be their shot at redemption.
The main question of the film is whether or not the findings of their previous investigation will weigh heavily on them or if they have learned enough to see past their pursuit of the truth. It takes place in 1993, when there was not as much technology available to catch criminals, forcing law enforcement to rely only on their investigative skills.
Darwin Kuriakose has directed this movie. Girish Gangadharan oversaw the camera work for the film, with Saiju Sreedharan as the editor. Yoodle Films and Theatre of Dreams have produced the movie.

Dunki, Animal, and the Hindi-dubbed version of Mahesh Babu’s action-drama Guntur Kaaram are also among the most watched films on the popular digital platform.
