Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman and choreographer-turned-actor Prabhudeva are one of the most celebrated composer-choreographer duos in the Indian film industry. However, the two had not worked together for about 25 years in Tamil cinema , a hiatus that may have possibly denied us the pleasures of many iconic dance numbers.

Rahman and Prabhudeva revealed that they both feed off each other's energy and creativity; one enhances the output of the other and inspires others to push the limits. While Rahman takes inspiration to improve his music by observing Prabhudeva's dance, Prabhudeva uses Rahman's music as a guide when composing dance sequences.

"He's (Prabhudeva) such an inspiring, dynamite dancer. His dance moves inspired me during the composing of 'Romeo' and 'Love Birds.' When I first saw 'Chikku Bukku Rayile' (from 'Gentlemen'), I was scared that he might jump out of the screen. I felt that kind of presence," Rahman told Behindwoods.

AR Rahman and Prabhudeva to wow audiences again

Rahman and Prabhudeva are also united by their shared love for Michael Jackson. "You see a world-class talent in your country, you feel proud about it. We both are big fans of Michael Jackson and so we connect on different levels. We both did an event with Michael Jackson in Munich. I personally wish we had spent more time jamming and doing more things. I think all these thoughts finally culminated in this movie," Rahman said, expressing a hint of regret.

Rahman also described Michael Jackson's music as his "energy drink." He revealed that whenever he feels down and dazed, he plays Michael Jackson's music, and soon he finds himself reenergized, with great clarity. He also revealed he derives similar energy from musician Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's repertoire.

The last Tamil film that Rahman and Prabhudeva worked on together was Minsara Kanavu, which was released in 1997. The duo will be reuniting for an untitled dance flick, helmed by Manoj NS. The project also stars Yogi Babu, Aju Varghese, and Arjun Ashokhan.
